MSc Science Communication & MSc Science Media Production
Candidates normally require at least a lower second class honours degree from a UK (or overseas equivalent) university or college of higher education in a scientific or science-related subject, and must be able to demonstrate their potential as a science communicator, as judged by the completion of an aptitude assignment (see below). Candidates may also submit portfolios of communication work that you have undertaken. Candidates with other qualifications are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate relevant experience or aptitude. Applications are welcomed from both new graduates and those with postgraduate research or work experience of all kinds.
Prospective students should apply from November of the year before they wish to be admitted. Students must apply online. In addition they must complete an aptitude assignment (see links below) specific to the course for which they are applying - this should be attached along with your personal statement, under the 'personal statement' section of the online application form. Your personal statement should be no more than one page long.
The College has introduced an application fee. If you are suffering financial hardship, you can apply to be exempted from the fee. You must do this before you submit your application so please plan ahead. Please visit this page to find the form for applying for the waiver of the fee.
The online application form will send your main application to the College Registry (so that references may be taken up, qualifications checked and so on).
All shortlisted applicants are interviewed. Interviews are held online.
Please note that our English language entry requirement is IELTS 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in all elements. For details of other tests that we accept, including the latest situation with TOEFL, please visit Registry's English Language Requirement for Postgraduate Students page.
